Please Help!!!! (firewall detected)

Okay I have tried unistalling both and reinstalling Limewiree first, however still the same says it has detected a firewall. I have gone inot my security settings to check my Windows firewall and now it will not allow me to enable it again, it says it is protected by group settings. Normally I do not have any issues with stuff like this but for some reason this time everything is going wrong.
If ANYONE has any more information as to how I can rectify this please let me know.

Korkie1974 Hi.

First, Cut & paste your 4.9.28 L/W installer to desktop or somewhere safe.
Follow these instructions exactly.
So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions.
Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/
& make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked)
Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search.
Apart from your 4.9.28 installer, Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything)
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Link to get (jre-1.5.11) Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one,
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

I would recommend this next bit, But if you wish to use your old 4.9.28 reinstall it now.(if that don't work, install the new one below)
Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer
LimeWire

Peace

Mickjapa,

Thanks for the help, I did start to follow the steps however after I uninstalled java I lost my internet explorer icon to get onto the internet, it says I still have the connection but all I see in the globe and if I click on it it just takes me to my properties, I was able to do a system restore and get back and am going to try doing it again and see if it works, if not I will be back to get help again.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! I followed the steps again and whooo hoooo it is working for me finally. I did however take you up on your advice and am using the Limewire you suggested instead of my old pro version which kinda sucks but I will update soon. Once again thanks so much, your instructions were easy to follow and VERY effective.

Avast is not a problem with L/W & you should not run without a firewall.
So if you turn L/W off completely, reinstall Avast, restart computer then L/W,
will apply for permission to pass through
Peace.
