Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network. (not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

Default Same as everyone else....firewall problems

1. OS version? Windows XP Home
2. What firewalls you have? Windows firewall
3. How much ram? 1.5G
4. Hard Disk space available? 100G
5. Connection type? cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Terayon, mod.#tj715x
7. Where are you trying to connect from? house
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.12.6 Pro, Java 1.4.2_03
9. Who is your ISP provider? Time/Warner
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. NO
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. occurs off and on..been using LW for a couple of years
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? YES

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnP


I have excepted LW in my firewall, turned off my firewall and still a no go. Every once in a while the brick wall will go away then in a day or 2 it is back.... I don't have this problem with my desk top just my laptop. It is an HP ZV5000. Sure would appreciate some help here.

Try updating your Java it's a bit old...
Uninstall your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.12 offline version....(4th one down)
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5

Also try deleting your preference folder...
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

There is no limewire folder in my application data file....and it is showing hidden files

If you have had an older version of Limewire before updating to the newer versions, make sure you have followed these steps..

Note: The Application Data folder is HIDDEN. In order to find & access it, you'll need to turn on the show hidden files & folders option. See sample below. New users of LW will find their preferences here. For those who have updated from an earlier version to 4.10 or later, you will find your preferences here after having deleted your preferences in the previous location discussed in Step 2 in the post at top of page!

So in other words delete the .limewire folder first and then search the LimeWire folder and delete it..
