Default an ISP problem

I was wondering if someone could help me with my LW problem. It is almost certainly an ISP problem, but I'm really not sure what to do. Using this computer at one location with Comcast, LW works fine but at a different location with a local ISP, I cannot connect. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. OS version? XP
2. What firewalls you have? None
3. How much ram? 512 MB
4. Hard Disk space available? 6 GB
5. Connection type? cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? No modem (internet provided by apartment), have a Buffalo WHR-G54S, but LW doesn't work even when I remove the router and connect the laptop directly to the connection
7. Where are you trying to connect from? apartment
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.12.11; Java 1.5.0_02
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Cavalier Broadband (a local ISP)
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says 'Your test worked!'
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? 1st try at new location
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? n/a

Cavalier don't sound very p2p-friendly. Have a read of this article, sounds like they're using a traffic management system. There's also a statement in there saying that they're deploying several blocking rules to deny access to sites or applications

You could try changing ports. In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049, or something in the range of 49152 - 65535. No guarantees that this'll help, but it's worth a try.

Your Java's a bit old, try installing this version. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install this one.

Your router has an internal firewall. If you do manage to connect, you could look at port forwarding for that router. I can't find specific instructions for your router, but the instructions below might help...they're for another Buffalo model but you might find they're good for your router as well. Or there might be info about port forwarding in the router's manual.
Port Forwarding for the Buffalo WHR-HP-G54

Good luck

thanks birdy. I tried the two things you mentioned to no avail. I can't get any sort of connection going. I may have to chalk this up to just crappy, crappy ISP.
