What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall :) Symantec Corporate 10.2 (vista), defender Hmm... blue works to make it interesting. Anyways, I've tried as much as I can read (1) Disabling firewall, defender, symantec (2) Tried Java 5.0 Update 11, 6.0, 6.0 Update 1 (3) Tried LW 4.12.11 << whatever's most recent (4) Updated Windows completely (5) Uninstalled McAfee both with the uninstaller and cleanup program (6) Confirmed port forwarding works (7) Uninstalled, reinstalled LW several times (8) Uninstalled, reinstalled java & limewire several times, several versions (9) Installed LW on W-XP machine, tested, working, turbo-charged (10) disabled aero effects (11) internet works I'm at a loss with this one. I seriously don't know why it won't connect to the gnutella network. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks! |
I'm not any knowledge on Vista, but one thing that takes my notice is your symantec corporate. Are you sure that does not include a firewall? I do know your model Linksys is 'not' a very reliable model. When you say you port forwarded, you mean you simply changed the settings in LW right, not actually port forwarded the Linksys? * Try changing port in LW. You should connect using a different port to that of other computers on same network. * Just to check, try connecting directly via your surfboard & not via the Linksys. |

Anywho, I've also gone as far as to match the settings from my XP computer (port-wise) on the Vista computer and nothing works. Thanks for responding! |
