What version of Java are you using? Try this version. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install this one;) Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 If that doesn't help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. |
thanx for the help and i was trying that but now im having trouble instaling the java u suggested i downloaded it then went and removed the old one but now i cant seem to get the one u suggested to open so i can install it ne help for that problem? |
Are you getting any error message when you try to open the installer? Did you use the JRE offline installer? Try rebooting your computer & then see if the installer works;) |
ok i got java to reinstall but limewire still doesnt start right so now im trying to delete the pref but the thread that u gave me the link to says it should be in the application folder but the folder im supose to delete isnt in the application folder does it make a differnce? and i did find another folder i dont know if it will make a differnce but in .limewire theres 2 folders 1 is xml and it just has an empty data folder in it but the other is .networkshare and inside that one theres a folder named incomplete in there we have 2 limewirewininstaller.exe files one is an info file and one is a partfile the part file seems to be nothing idk if that makes a differnce at all but i thought i would mention it |

Lime Wire won't start I just downloaded & installed the Freeware version of Lime Wire. The installation went just fine but Lime Wire won't start. I even downloaded the latest version of Java & it still won't start. I also restarted my computer & LW still won't work. Can someone please help? I'm going crazy. Here's my system info. OS: Win XP Pro sp2 ISP: Earthlink Anti Virus: Norton (for now - switching to AVG shortly) Firewall: None for now. Will be using Zone Alarm Pro Connection Type: Cable Modem, WebStar DCP2100 series Router: Yes, Linksys Wireless G with Speed Booster I don't know what port forwarding & UPnP are. RAM: 1.5 GHZ Free Hard Disk Space: 2 GB (Will be more when I install my other hard drive tomorrow [I hope]) The test worked. |
Try this version of Java. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install this one. Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Otherwise, try the other fixes in this thread. Fixes for LimeWire |
