RE: limewire used to connect but doesn't anymore

In response to your post, I feel the same sentiments. One day, Limewire just wouldn't connect (I'd say about 1-2mos ago), and since then, I have been unable to use it. Today, I went through the message board looking for possible ways to fix the problem.

- I've tried removing and re-adding Limewire as an exception in my Windows and Mcafee firewalls
- I have deleted and re-downloaded Java 5.0, update 11 (more importantly, I deleted Java 6.0, which I suspect, is the root of all of my problems)
- I have inserted a port into both my firewalls, per my Limewire configuration, which can be found in the Limewire firewall configuration under the "Listen on Port" field
- I have repeatedly restarted my computer

I am all out of options, and yet, I still can't connect to Limewire. I even tried to upgrade to LimewirePRO thinking that might have been the solution, but to no avail.

I have an automatic Java upgrade installer on my PC, and suspect that when it installed the Java 6.0 upgrade 1-2mos ago, somehow connectivity for my Limewire application was disrupted. I can't seem to reverse it however.

PLEASE HELP! I HAVE MANY SONGS I WOULD LIKE TO DOWNLOAD AND SHARE!

cjt446 - do you have both of your firewalls on?

muhctekdano June 13th, 2007 09:57 PM

kowchpotato - have you tried port forwarding your router?

muhctekdano -

I just turned off my Windows firewall, and am still unable to connect. I have old versions of Java updates in my "Add/Remove Programs" list, but I'm guessing they are disabled (thus, I don't think I have to remove them). I will try removing them anyways.

i started port forwarding but when i got to the part when you have to put the ip address into the address bar on your web browser, an aol with google search page came up and said it was a bad request. if you can help me from here that would be great.
