USA - I've tried removing and re-adding Limewire as an exception in my Windows and Mcafee firewalls - I have deleted and re-downloaded Java 5.0, update 11 (more importantly, I deleted Java 6.0, which I suspect, is the root of all of my problems . . . haven’t deleted all of the other Java updates though) - I have inserted a port into both my firewalls, per my Limewire configuration, which can be found in the Limewire firewall configuration under the "Listen on Port" field - I have repeatedly restarted my computer - I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Limewire application - I have deleted my .Limewire or preferences folder I am all out of options, and yet, I still can't connect to Limewire. I even tried to upgrade to LimewirePRO thinking that might have been the solution, but to no avail. I have an automatic Java upgrade installer on my PC, and suspect that when it installed the Java 6.0 upgrade 1-2mos ago, somehow connectivity for my Limewire application was disrupted. I can't seem to reverse it however. PLEASE HELP! |
cjt446 Hi Follow these instructions exactly. So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions. Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs. Re BOOT Your computer NOW Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/ & make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked) Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search. Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything) Re BOOT Your computer NOW. Now! Go to, START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs, now completely remove all versions of java. Re BOOT Your computer NOW. Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down. Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 When Download is completed. Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java. Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer LimeWire McAfee Security Center Port Forwarding to run with Limewire. Thanks . . . Following the instrux (Uninstall Limewire, Remove all Java apps, etc.) got my Limewire up and running again. It's as simple as just completely removing apps that run Limewire and re-installing them. Thanks for your help - cjt446 |
Yes!! But the most important bit, was the Search & clean, Bits get left behind & a clean sweep puts you back on a level playing field. Your servant Peace. |

icekoolguy Hi Fredreco you are most welcome:xirokrotima: You say. "I am having the exact same problem as cjt446" Your problem may look the same to you Mat, but yours is much worse, you have homecall as an ISP, That only you can fix, homecall is now part of Tiscali & Ive spoken on this subject until my fingers are sore, so put Tiscali in L/Ws search at the top of this page & have a good read. You can try this Port Forwarding for the Norton Internet Security 2007 If you feel that your Norton isn't configured properly with Limewire, Click on this Blue link...it will help you Configure it.
