can not connect to limewire but did some research

1. xp Professional service pack 2
2. microsoft firewall
3. 512 mb ram
4. 67.8 gb free
5. dial-up
6. unknown modem built-in
7. House
8. limewire 4.12.11
9. Alphalink
10. Test works
11. straight to pc through modem
12. new problem experienced user
13. yes
14. UPnP
15. AVG Antivirus
16. Australia

i also tried connecting with bearshare and that works but i would like to know what could be the problem so that i can solve this situation

Try these fixes...
Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11


If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder...
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

If they do not help at all....Go To (in limewire)...
Tools > Options > Advanced > Firewall and tick the manual port forward box and enter 64049 and then enter that same number into the listen port box and select apply...
Close LW down and then re-start...Hopefully that will do the trick...;)
