LW not connecting with 1 bar (not a wireless connection) 1. OS version? WinXP 2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall 3. How much ram? 512mb 4. Hard Disk space available? 1gig 5. Connection type? Cable (hardwired cable, router shares with 2 wireless computers) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Moto SBG900 wirelss (although PC is hardwired cable, not wireless) 7. Where are you trying to connect from? home 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.12.11 1.6.0_01 9. Who is your ISP provider? Time Warner RR 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your Test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? Yes, sharing with 2 wireless computers. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Use to work, now doesnt after installing an additional Hard drive 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes its my roomates computer. worked fine, then installed additional hard drive which turned out to not work for some reason now LW doesnt run. he has the cable plugged into the router, then his pc. me and other roomate use wireless and can run limewire fine. i reinstalled LW, changed the port to the port mine is using, disabled firewall, enabled firewall, and nothing worked. dont know what to do next. thanks |
1. Don't use the same port. It should be different. 2, Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) If still doesn't work then: 3. Does your motorolla have UPnP abilities do you know? If not, then port forwarding is way to go PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall (find LW on the list, but set up static ip first, that is the most important step & must be done first before port forwarding.) 4. The drive might be the issue. If it's not working, reinstall the drive. |
