Connection Problem at College

So I cannot connect at all. Frostwire just sits there for a few minutes trying to connect and then it just gives up and I'm left SOL. PLEASE help me.

1. OS: Ubuntu 7.04 the Feisty Fawn
2. I don't think i have any firewalls on my computer
3. 384mb RAM
4. 50gb harddrive available
5. School Ethernet
6. I have Frostwire v4.13.1
7. I did the link and the test didn't work. It just loaded forever
8. Yes there's a brickwall

I don't know what "frostwire" is but I can't connect to Limewire at college either. And apparently no one can. The networks on campus won't allow it I think:confused:

Unfortunately that is true for more & more colleges/universities nowadays. They have been changing their policies re: p2p sharing because they use up so much bandwidth.

You could try this: Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the ports to one between 49152 - 65535. A good one to try is port 64049. Then close LW & re-open.

Also, make sure you have configured your firewall to allow LW or FW full access. See User Cant Connect - LimeWire (click on blue link) :)

Re: Ubuntu; unfortunately I have never used it. I am not sure about issues regarding it. Try searching Ubuntu on the forums.

thanks for the ports. i tried a lot of them but none of them worked. under "router configuration", should i use "manual port forward" or just change the "listening port"?

Try both. Just try changing listening port first & leave it in UPnP mode. Then change connection port too & leave it in Port Forward mode.
