Jesus Christ...(Not Connecting) G...is not my savior right now. Alright, after so long of being a torrent user I'm missing the old regular p2p game where in you'd just do **** directly. I'm having a bit of a problem here though. I'm not connecting whatsoever. I've updated my firmware and got my **** nicely packed. I turned off my firewall for a moment to allow LW to connect. NOTHING IS WORKING! NOT A DAMN THING! I've even turned off all my security programs like the firewalls and other **** that might be affecting it. Furthermore, this is happening from a recently downloaded free version of LW so I have no f-ing idea why this shouldn't be working. Here's the information you guys would need. 1. OS version? Windows XP2 (and yes, I know of the "XP2 problem" with connecting. I already opened up my **** to have more connections months before) 2. What firewalls you have? Zone Alarm Pro. 3. How much ram? 512MB I'm guessing. 4. Hard Disk space available? 150 G's 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) DSL 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Neotopia Modem, Linksys WRT54G Model 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House. 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Latest version. And Java 1.6.0_01 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Centurytel. 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? My test works. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Well, I am using a router. About 2-3 computers are using the connection downstairs. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Eh, I've never really had a problem in the past to it's my first try and solving the issue. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes, though it shouldn't be there. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Modem > Router > Computer and yes, UPnP, is enabled. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? AVG 16. What country are you living in? USA. Now, there is one thing I do not know how to do and that is how to add LW to my trusted zone in ZA. It goes, Add> (Options) Host/Site, IP Address, IP Range, Subnet. I don't know which one to click and what information to put inside it. If anyone can help me figure this out I'll be very greatful. |
See if this helps with your ZA Pro. PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your ZoneAlarm Firewall. Have you just recently installed that Java 1.6.0_01? A few people have had connection probs with that version. Try this one instead. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install this one. Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 If that doesn't help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. You could try port forwarding for your router...see if that gets rid of the firewall icon. The instructions are here. Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT54G Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address first. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number;) |
