can't connect 1. Windows XP 2. Windows firewall 3. 512 mb ram 4. 16 gb available 5. Cable connection 6. Motorola surfboard SB5101 / Linksys wireless-g WRT54GS 7. trying to connect from home 8. lw 4.12.14, java 1.6.0_01 9. isp provider - adelphia 10. "your test worked!" 11. no connection to other computers as far as i know 12. first LW try 13. there is a brick wall icon I can't connect (stays at one bar.) I have no computer know-how whatsoever, can anyone walk me through things that could be the problem? Yes, I looked at the look-here-before-posting thing, and I tried a few things, but most I don't know how to do. |
Make sure that the Windows firewall's configured to allow LW. User Cant Connect - LimeWire A few people have had problems with Java 1.6.0_01. Try this version instead. Use the offline installer& remove your current Java version before you install this one. Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 If that doesn't help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here. Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. Try port forwarding for your router. The instructions are here. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within a router all have to be the same number;) |
:idea:Well unstalling java and restalling an older one worked for me thank all of you for your help i was pulling my hair out here Downloads are slow but I can live with that :laugh_2: |
