anybody out there?? |
Are you running both Windows & Norton firewalls? Don't - they'll conflict with each other. Turn off the Windows firewall & double check that Norton's configured to allow LW. PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall http://www.gnutellaforums.com/226610-post6.html Try this version of Java. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install the new one. Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 If that doesn't help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here. Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. If you're using a router, can you find out the brand & model number? |
I turned off the windows firewall and I am not using a router. I also closed out LW and deleted the preferences folder. How do you remove the current Java version so that I can install the new one? Thanks for your help. |
Uninstall Java from Add/Remove Programs;) |
I have removed the old java and added the new one. I restarted and I still can not connect. I still have only one bar and the brick wall over the globe. |
Any other suggestions? |
If you have java 6.u1 its problematic, Roll back to this one that should fix it Go, START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs, now completely remove all versions of java. Re BOOT Your computer NOW. Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down. Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 When Download is completed. Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java. |
I followed all of thos steps and still can't connect. I still have the brick wall over the globe and only one bar connection. |
