anybody out there??

Are you running both Windows & Norton firewalls? Don't - they'll conflict with each other. Turn off the Windows firewall & double check that Norton's configured to allow LW.

Try this version of Java. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install the new one.
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that doesn't help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here.
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

If you're using a router, can you find out the brand & model number?

dzer13 June 28th, 2007 10:39 AM

I turned off the windows firewall and I am not using a router. I also closed out LW and deleted the preferences folder.

How do you remove the current Java version so that I can install the new one?

Thanks for your help.

Uninstall Java from Add/Remove Programs;)

dzer13 June 29th, 2007 07:26 AM

I have removed the old java and added the new one. I restarted and I still can not connect. I still have only one bar and the brick wall over the globe.

dzer13 July 2nd, 2007 08:21 AM

Any other suggestions?

mickjapa108 July 2nd, 2007 08:39 AM

If you have java 6.u1 its problematic,
Roll back to this one that should fix it

Go,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down.
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

How to use Manual Port forward

Universal Plug and Play may not be working properly Due to this update. "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)"
Removing this update is not Recommended & could make your computer vulnerable to attack.
For more info on this update, click on this blue link.
Microsoft Security Bulletin MS07-019: Vulnerability in Universal Plug and Play Could Allow Remote Code Execution (931261)

If this update is installed on your computer & UPnP is in use by Limewire,
Try switching to Manual Port forward using port numbers between 45000 To 65000
Both Manual Port forward No, & listening port should be set at the same number
In LimeWire, GO to Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config & use Manual Port forward.

If you are using a router to connect, that will also need configuring.
Find your router listed here, Use this blue link. & dont forget to create a static IP first, & click apply after changing each setting.
