![]() About 3 weeks on and still no chance of connecting. I have also tried going through my laptop and the result is the same. That must mean it's either the router or the line. I have connected before with no problem so what has changed. Here are my answers to the questionnaire. 1. OS version XP 2. What firewalls you have? Zonealarm running and XP off 3. How much ram? Not sure but if it is important I will find out 4. Hard Disk space available? 32.6 gig 5. Connection type? broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Netgear DT834GT 7. Where are you trying to connect from House, 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.12.11 Java 1.6.0_01 9. Who is your ISP Homecall 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? 'Your test worked!'. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No. This is the main computer hard-wired to the Router. Our laptops are wireless enabled but not Limewire enabled and are very rarely on line at the same time 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem. Has connected before for quite sonme time now. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnP is enabled through XP. Limewire is enabled in Zonealarm 15. What security programs are you using AVG and Ad-aware Regards, The Baron ![]() |

![]() Double check that ZA is configured to allow LW. Homecall are owned by Pipex & are known for traffic shaping. Not so sure about port blocking but it's possible. Within LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or ports in the range of 49152 - 65535) > Apply > ok. Have you tried connecting outside of peak hours? Give that a try. Pipex have a FUP during peak hours. Pipex - Up to 8Mb broadband from £6.50, cheap home phone call packages Quite a few people have had connection problems with Java 1.6.0_01. Try this version instead. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install this one. Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 If that doesn't help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. I think your router has a firewall, can't find much info (in English) about it. It doesn't show up on the Netgear site. Have a look at the list of Netgear routers here. There might be one with pages that look the same as yours. In that case, you could try port forwarding. PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number. Looks like Pipex might end up being taken over by Tiscali soon ![]() Tiscali takeover of Pipex in the pipeline - Broadband Finder Blog |
