trying to open limewire

hello everyone,

i have limewire for 2 years and i never had problems untill a week of 2 ago,
I bought a new computer and installed limewire on it.
The first time it worked and now I dubbelclick on the limewireicon on my desktop and the only thing that happens is a little screen that opens with the limewire icon on it.
I think that it was the little screen for uploading the program.
but it only opens and 2 seconds later it closes.
Limewire doesn't open.
What is the problem and how can i help it away.

grtz

I think maybe LW no longer

supports some older versions of pro. I had my version not worked and changed everything everyone suggested. I then downloaded new basic and it still didn't work until I went in and deleted the .limewire "preferences" folder in admin. Now I am sailing along. I may or not buy the pro. I may try ares or azerus. Getting alot of junk with searches on LW and not alot of ripped movie files that I can see. I can say I am getting some music from it though. Good Luck.

PS: Use the form to cut and paste on the forum so people can know your system's parameters and they can help you. It is quite useful and there are some very nice folks here. :xeri_ok1ani:

Give this a go.

Sounds like things have become jumbled.

Follow these instructions exactly.
So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions.
Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW
Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/
& make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked)

Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search.
Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything)
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.
Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down.
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer
