I can't connect

Hello, hope you have a kind heart to help me here, this keep happening to me.Please reply to ********
One minute I'm fine, next I can't connect - Limewire's stuck at one bar. I don't know much about my computer, but I'll provide as much information as I can

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows XP
2. What firewalls you have? Norton and Windows Firewall which I can’t get rid of
3. How much ram? No idea (if you can tell me how I can find out )
4. Hard Disk space available? If Ive got 18 GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Cable and Broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? No idea
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Limewire 4.13.08 and Java 1.6.0_01
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Batelco.
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? "Your Test Worked!"
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Yep. It’s the whole building thing, but use to be working normally on the old version of limewire like 4.10 or 4.11

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Experienced user - been using LW for about 4 years now?
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes.
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? YES
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall. Norton Internet Security and Windows Firewall, the computer came already with it
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland).
Bahrain

In connection keep showing connecting but it never does or almost never and after almost a day trying I got this message…..could you please help me out step by step, I really can’t work it out…..thank u so much!!!

RE: I cant connect

Hi
I had a similar problem when I downloaded Po Share 360. In the end I had to Un-Install the program. I then Installed Limewire. Maybe you just need to UnInstall the program and Re-Install it again afressh. Just a suggestion. Hope you get it sorted.

It is possible to disable firewalls .. turn them off. For Windows firewall ... go to the control panel, double click on Windows Firewall, check the disable box. Else for different set up see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...620#post178620

Then configure Norton firewall ... Configuring Norton Internet Security

See if that helps :)

Otherwise ... try these things ... Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link) which means removing all versions of Java & reinstalling Java 1.5

Disable the XP firewall & configure the Norton firewall to allow LW.

PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall

Try changing ports. In LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or something in the range of 49152 - 65535) > Apply > ok.

Has the connection problem started since you updated your Java? Some people have had problems with 1.6.0_01. If the connection problem ties in with when you updated Java, try using an older version. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install this one.

Have you tried connecting at different times of day? One person here thinks Batelco are blocking p2p from 9am to 6pm.
Moey’s » Your ISP is cheating? How fast is your internet connection?

You could try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things.

Try to find out the brand & model of your modem/router. If nothing's showing on top of the device, have a look underneath.
