Try this version of Java. Use the offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install this one.

Try port forwarding for your router, the instructions are here.
Port Forwarding for the Actiontec GT701-WG
Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address first. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router have to all be the same number.

Thanks for the reply and help. I actually already had Java 5.0.11 installed. So I just removed Java 6.1.

When I went to do the port forwarding, the instructions showed different screenshots and I was unable to find "port forwarding" anywhere. The firewall in the router is turned off.

I really don't understand about the ports and IP addresses. Heavy sigh.

My bad...I gave you the wrong port forwarding instructions (gave you GT701 instead of GT704), I'm really sorry about that. These are for your router.

It doesn't look like you have to do a static IP for your router at all...hope that makes things a bit easier for you:laugh_2:

Let us know how you go with that!

I went to the instructions for the Actiontec GT704-WG and the screenshots were the same.

I still can't connect. Another heavy sigh.

You should remove all versions of Java, then reinstall the Java 1.5 (5.0.11 JRE), otherwise there 'may' be some traces of other versions that are interfering.

Also, try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) But make a note of all your settings under Tools>Options first, because next time you open LW you will need to reset them all.

YES!! Deleting the LW Preferences folder worked and I'm now in business!
Thank you so much for your help!
