Lime wire disapears tried everything from update to follow things in forums I've been using limewire for years now but since last week i have been having issues most notably when it is locating peers after start up. It starts for a good 10 seconds before it disapears and the icon in the system tray goes away after i scroll my mouse over it. I have reinstalled limewire several times. i have also uninstalled it and deleted all remaining files and folders including traces of it in the registry. I even installed the beta version and it still wouldn't work. I also reinstalled Java searched for both newdotnet*.dll & new.net. I even followed solutions from these three forum thread today yet none of them worked limewire-help-lw-wont-open new-lw-cant-connect limewire-disappears fixes-limewire-when-lw-isnt-operating-should yet nothing works. Can someone assist?:cantseeyou::confused: |
You could try this solution, it has worked for some but not others, but seeing you have tried everything else you may as well give it a shot...;) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-problems.html |
What OS are you using? If your using an older version of an OS maybe it cant go the whole nine yards for Limewire because even though on Limewire's website it says it is suitable for older machines, doesn't necessarily mean that yours can handle it. Also next time this happens, Id like you to try something. Ctrl + Alt + Delete. Check Windows Task Manager to see if its still running, because often when I launch Limewire, if Im running Fire.Fox it disappears but one night I tried that and it was still running. If you find that Limewire is still running. Right click Limewire in task manager, and click Bring to front. I re read your post and when you say that when you put your mouse over teh LW icon in the system tray and it disappears, that could mean that Limewire isn't responding. Have you received any error messages? Such as "Limewire.exe (or) Limewire has encountered a problem and needs to close?" or "Dr Watson's Post Mortom debugger encountered a problem and needs to close"? A short while after you launch Limewire, does your whole PC freeze up? That could mean its too much on your CPU usage, your low on Disk Space, not enough RAM, too many programs running. When you launch Limewire, do you have any programs running with it? I dont mean programs in the system tray, they're not what seems to be the problem. Do you have any programs such as IE, IM (any type of IM), Media Player, eyeTunes, w.i.nAMP or anything at all? I seem to believe it may be CPU related. Try something else. As soon as Limewire runs Ctrl + Alt + Delete and see what percent its brought your CPU usage up to. Sorry about all the questions I asked but all of them could be why. Let me know if you solve the problem. |

Well i tried that from before i just never thought it was crucial to put in the thread lol. my CPU is fine seeing as how it only takes up 27,234 - 30,124 when its running so i doubt thats it. i have also tried to see if other programs were interrupting it but that didn't work either _____________________________ I'lltry wonder why's solutions and see what happens oh yeah i use OS windows XP sp2, Verizon fiber Optics, 1.5 memory, 260 on my HDDs and a 2.00 G Hz Pentium 4 processor |
Oh ok. Sorry that I couldn't have been of more assistance but I gave what I could. Best of luck with solving the problem :) |
You gave some very good tips, it's always handy to have other points of view...;) |
none of it works -_- |
yeah uhm... I deleted all java installed on my computer and installed java 5 update 11 and deleted the prefrence folder. I also have limewire running in windows 95 (and then tried windows 2000) and still nothing. i scanned my computer multiple times and checked to make sure that limewire wasn't behind a firewall; however no matter what i do it disappears into a little icon after the splash screen appears and loads the app and anytime i hover the mouse over the icon it dissapears. Also i can stack more than one icon by repeating the process. DO you have anymore suggestions :( |
Try this... Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator. (but 'only' if you're the admin of your comp.!) |
