Yet Another Connection Problem It used to work before, but we don't use it for about 4-5 months and now it's not working, Tried deleting the .Limewire folder but still no cigar. 1. OS version? Windows XP SP2 2. What firewalls you have? Sonicwall, ISA 2000 3. How much ram? 512 4. Hard Disk space available? Plenty (More than 10gigs) 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Fiber Optic 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Linksys Etherfast® Cable/DSL VPN Router BEFVP41 V2 7. Where are you trying to connect from? Office 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Limewire 4.12.11 Java 1.5.0_03 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Biznet 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your test worked ! 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. I'm in an office environment, so yes the connection (internet connection that is) is shared. We use ISA 2000 as both proxy and firewall 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem with an experienced user 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? As far as I know Nope.. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall Symantec Corporate Edition, again it wasn't an issue before 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). Indonesia |
You could try port forwarding your router...These are the instructions for the BEFVP41 Port Forwarding for the Linksys BEFVP41 You could also try a later version of Java... Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Other than those tips it's really hard as the security you have may be the cause.... |
