I,m in trouble (firewall, need help with system details)

Hi Guys.
I think I'm toast. I just installed limewire pro for my daughter but it wont work. I see that I'm suposed to provide system detail but half the stuff it asks for I don't know what it means. I'm pretty sure I have a firewall problem. I figured out how to check my microsoft system and it shows it will allow limewire. I dont know what type of internet I have. Its not satilite but it does have a dish that that looks like a sat. dish but it points at a tower miles away. Do I have a router?-> I have know idea. My computer is a pentium 4. Does that mean anything to anyone. So can someone help me or did I just waste my money buying this. I will need very clear, very precise, step by step instructions that dont have computer lingo in them. It took me half an hour to learn how to make this post. I've never done a forum thing before. I apologize in advance to the poor soul who tries to help me out. I just hope I can find where to go to get your answers after I send this.
Thanks in advance
Stu

Ok...I'll be the poor soul that will give it a go..;)

Lets start with what sort of Operating system you are using...
Is it XP or Vista ??

Your modem/router is the little black box that connects you to the internet, if you look underneath it, it will have what the brand is and the model number...

Is your computer at home/school/work ??

What version of Java have you got on your computer...You will find this out by going to Start > Control Panal > Add/remove Programs and have a look at what it says...

Who do you pay to have the internet on ??

Do this simple test for us. Click on this link http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What does it say?

Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Click on the link to see what you need to be looking for..

What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall...

What country are you living in?

Ok that's the important questions you really need to try and answer for us, so we are able to see what is wrong with your limewire...;)

If you have AVG anti virus you may need to uncheck "resident shield" inside the control center. I couldn't connect until I did this. May work for you also.

64falcon..Try these fixes...
Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...Full picture instructions within link...
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

shadrach...You might be better off starting your own thread and supply the answers to these questions...
