Please healp me! (connection problem)
 
1. OS version? xp
2. What firewalls you have?windows firewall
3. How much ram? 512
4. Hard Disk space available? not sure
5. Connection type? broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? netgear, thats all i know
7. Where are you trying to connect from? house
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.12.15 and Java 1.5.0_09( i think)
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Tiscali
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It said test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? Sharing with 1 other computer
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Its been working for months and all of a sudden it won't work! i uninstalled java and redownloaded it and it seemed to fix the problem for half an hour now it won't work again!
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? sorry dont know
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? AVG anti virus
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country? UK
All i get is this:
'limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return any results until you are fully connected to the network'

Tiscali...ouch :(

Check out these threads.
I have found a solution to getting Limewire to work with Tiscali

Try changing ports & also connecting outside of peak hours, those threads above have more info about this.

Also, make sure that the XP firewall's configured to allow LW.

If you can find the model of the Netgear (look underneath the router), we can help you with port forwarding. Or, find the model number in the router index here.
PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall
Choose LW from the list of programs, then you'll find instructions for port forwarding. Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address, if that's part of the instructions. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number;)
