| I too am perplexed. I have Limewire 4.12.6 on this computer and on an older laptop, both with XP Pro on them and it works fine. I just installed it on another computer I only recently enabled an on line connection for with a wireless router, and it will not start. It keeps coming up with "need to install java...". So I do, but then it says that this version of Java is not compatible with Limewire, and i have tried downloading older versions, but it still will not start. I do not remember how to clear my registry of all prior Java installations. Can anybody tell me please? Thanks, Monika Florida US |

| You don't have to clean your registry from the Java entries. Go START>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs and uninstall all Java versions from there. Then go to START>Programs>LimeWire>Uninstall and remove LW as well. Then restart your computer and go to download Java again (JRE offline version) Then install Java, restart the computer and then install LW..... Cheers FOTH

| I already reverted back to the Java 5.12 instead of 6.2 so I wouldn't need to do that part. But should I do these other steps if I'm going to try the new upgrade? Quote:
