Connection problems in case of provider ??

Hi community,

I'll trying to use limewire since two month, or so, read all hints (on the official limewire homepage, also this http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...e-posting.html
tryied to configure a lot and I'm not able to connect at all.

My environment:
WinXP SP2; Router Netgear FWG114P, Modem Alcatel(Tompson) Touchspeed 510; Internet ADSL; provider Tele2UTA (Austria)

PC: static IP (192.168.0.10) from Router DHCP-Server; Win Firewall OFF
Router: UPnP ON; necessarily ports open IN and OUT with static route to 192.168.0.10
Modem & Provider: Tele2UTA told me, they block no ports, have no proxy, the modem has no firewall ...

... BUT as I saw, the register- and welcome e-mail from gnutelaforums were handled as SPAM by the provider.

I also took other notebooks via WLAN over the same rooter, no chance.
With this notebook and a Web'n walk box over another provider T-Mobile (mobilphone provider) it works fine without any problems.

Has anyone experience with this provider or other hints for me?

br
Karl

System details - help us to help you Please.

Recently there's been a problem with people not providing enough details about their setup - despite being asked again & again.
So let's make it easy for everyone...the details that we need if we're going to be able to help with complex problems are:

Cut n paste Just these Questions, put your answers in bold text Thank You.

1. what OS version (eg: Windows 98, XP,OSX, Vista) ?
2. What firewalls you have ?
3. How much ram ?
4. Hard Disk space available ?
5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ?
6.Modem what brand name & model numbers ?
7.Router brand name & model numbers ?
8. Where are you trying to connect from (house, apartment complex, school, student accommodation, work, etc.) ?
9. What version,LimeWire & Java, are you using. Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.?
10. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider) ?
11. Do this test click here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should say 'Your test worked!. What happens ?
12. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
13. Is this your 1st try at LW, or is this a new problem with an experienced user.?
14. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface ?
15. Have you given full permissions for LimeWire to pass through your Firewall ?
16. XP users, Please state XP firewall on or off.?
17. In Start & remove Programs, Is this update Installed, "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)" ?
If Windows Updates are not seen, Tick the box at top of page, (show updates)
18. Are you using Manual Port faward in LimeWire OR UPnP ?
You can check HERE, IN LimeWire Go, Tools/options/advanced/firewall Config

This information can be vital
For instance, some ISPs are known for blocking p2p/throttling bandwidth,
some connection devices are known for being unreliable in certain situations.

So please, help us to help you & provide as much info as you can.
If you're new to LW or new to computers & aren't sure how to answer some questions,
or don't know what an ISP or router is - just say so. Nobody's going to yell at you:wink:
Even if you can't answer all the questions in one go...don't worry. Do the best you can & we'll take it from there.

Hi mickjapa 108
Some of the infos above I gave in my first post also, but I figured out, this template is more structured, so I hope not forgotten something.

Some additional infos:
1. As stated from my ISP: NO ports are blocked; p2p will NOT be blocked; the modem has NO firewall in.
2. Your e-mail from gnutella forum were blocked as SPAM by the provider

It's unknowable for me, what the problem could be. It whould be great to get some hints.

Hi,

if you ment TCP / UDP I defined listening ports onetime for both seperatly services, othertime combined service for TCP/UDP at the router.

UPnP ON and OFF (manually settings); nothing worked

confused ...

Yeah, I meant UDP (typo....lol...)....:o

I have re-read your system stats and saw that you mentioned portforwarding.....hmm, usually we do not use UPnP when we have forwarded the port.

Your Netgear router and your static IP would definitely be a strong argument for using portforward.....
So, what I would try is to go through the whole process of portforwarding again, i.e setting up a static IP and then following the explanations at portforward.com regarding LW and your router:

Limewire & Netgear FWD114

I would even consider to uninstall LW prior to that attempt and delete any obsolete folders (using search on your computer and including hidden folders) as well as deleting any registry entry of LW (using Start>Run...."regedit")

Cheers
