someone please help (My limewire does not connect?)
 

Can someone please help me. My limewire does not connect?

I have checked my firewall and its not blocking it? It just lags in the connecting and that is all?

It was working a few weeks ago, but this was after I had this trouble and for some reason it just decided to work again...But now its the same thing again and its driving me nuts!!

Like I said, I have checked my firewall and it is not blocking it and I am at a loss what is stopping it connecting!

PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP!!

Try deleting LW's preference folder with LW completely shut down. See points 2 & 3 in this thread: Fixes for Limewire. This will reset all your option settings, so make a note of them first.

I tried all that was suggested? I then had this message come up when I tried restarting Limewire

Hi Bluebird, You might have a Java issue. Try this
Uninstall any and all versions of Java from the Add/Remove Programs. Now Re-install the JRE 5.11 Offline version shown here.

I just downloaded the frostwire 4.13.2 and that works all fine? This has really got me baffled now. As it seems something is blocking my limewire.

Uninstalled all versions of java and installed 5.11 but still did not connect.

Is there a reason why you won't upgrade your Limewire from version 4.8.1?? If you downloaded an updated version of Frostwire then why not LW?
Also did you roll back the Java to 1.5.11? If you don't try it then you'll never know. Some folks are having trouble with the new Java updates.

I just googled frostwire and did not know it was the latest version and I have never really bothered updating my limewire because I have never had trouble with it until now? And I thought I had the best version? Limewire pro?

Im not brilliant when it comes to computers and so if it works good for me I leave it and it was working great.

Ok!! save your 4.8.1 installer to desktop so you can try with it at a later date

Sounds like things have become jumbled.


Follow these instructions exactly.
So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions.
Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW
Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/
& make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked)

Now!!, Put "limewire" in box, (all or part of file name) & click search.
Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything)EXEPT 4.8.1 installer
If you have used older versions of limewire.
Then repete search putting ".limewire", the dot is important
When all L/W files are deleted.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.
Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down.
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer

Excuse me? I am not getting shirty but if you read my thread correctly after 6 pac wrote his you would see....I have tried all that is asked and got this message and it is a large message? So to ask me have I done it was to me, a useless question. I was hoping it would be someone to help me from the notification and not a question that clearly was answered in my thread?
