Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network. (not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

Default Limewire Can't Connect.

1. OS version? Windows XP Pro SP2
2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall
3. How much ram? 2.5 GIGS
4. Hard Disk space available? 160 GB
5. Connection type? Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Lynksis BSRF41 ver. 2.0
7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home (lan network for 2 pcs)
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.14.5 pro java 1.6.0.20
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Time Warner Cable
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your Test Worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Sharing connection with another computer using router mentioned above.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. It was running fine a couple of weeks ago and than after a hard drive format wont work again.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnP but i have tried both now
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall None
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA


I really hope someone can please help me solve this problem. I have gone around the forums and have tried all suggestion possible but see no positive results. Thank You

yeah man this is getting annoying. You would expect great results after paying money. But i guess not I been tweaking around my ports and firewalls and still can get it to connect. Hopefully some genious might post a solution to our problem here.

Try these fixes...
Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

Also double check that you have Port Forwarded correctly...

I'm a sister..

I just checked on google and found the "Acceptable Use Policy" for Time Warner...
Operator Acceptable Use Policy

It does state that you cannot overuse Bandwidth..

Try giving them a call and ask them if they shape p2p use..
