Exclamation Connecting Issues - Error with Firewall

I'm now getting an error that reads "Your machine does not appear to have an active internet connection or a firewall is blocking LimeWire from accessing the internet. LimeWire will automatically keep trying to connect you to the network unless you select disconnect from the file menu." some firewall huh???

though under the file option on the toobar, it says i am connected but when do a search, that error pop's up. this error pop's up also when iTunes is running.

The issue is I continue to get this error even when I turn my firewall off. Before this error, my firewall was on and could use LimeWire with no issues. I've tried to redownload LimeWire, no changes. As well as downloading another P2P software like Kazaa, getting the same issue. I'm not too technical and run windows xp with nothing special going on.

does anyone know what this error is due to and how to fix it. it started when i uploaded the newest version of iTunes and let someone use my laptop (no clue what they did).. i've tried to resort my system settings on my computer and it hasn't worked either..

any help will be highly greatful.
