1. windows xp meida center edition
2. web root, trend micro antivirus ,windows
3. 2.0 Gb of ram
4. 300 GB hard drive
5. broudband
6. Modem motorola router Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast
7. Where are you trying to connect from home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.14.8 pro java 1.6.0_02
9. Who is your ISP (mediacom cable)?
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: test worked http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.yes my computer is sharing the connection with a ethernet wire between the computers and a router
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I thought I used it before on this computer cant remmember.

in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland).

Don't run more than 1 software firewall at a time. Choose the one you want to use, make sure it's configured to allow LW & disable any others;)

Some people have had connection problems with Java 1.6.0_02.Try this version instead. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version(s) before installing this one.
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that doesn't help, If that doesn't help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 2 here & also point 3 if you've used newer versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

What happened when you did the port test (#10 in the 'system details' list)?

What's the model of your Motorola? Is there an external router (not the Realtek ethernet controller)?

snowsunlimited August 22nd, 2007 02:23 PM

Could you tell us, please?

Mediacom might be part of the problem (that's why I asked you if your port test worked). Check out this thread.

Have you tried connecting at different times of day/night?

Have you tried using any other p2p apps?

snowsunlimited August 23rd, 2007 11:40 AM

port test worked it says
motorola SB 5100 surfboard cable modem
D link model EBR 2310 ethernet broadband router
i have tried day and night dont matter
what other p2p apps are u talking about examples please

birdy August 23rd, 2007 07:37 PM

Examples of other p2p: BearShare, Phex, Frostwire, torrent apps...other file sharing applications.

Try port forwarding for your router (it has a firewall), the instructions are here.
Port Forwarding for the Dlink EBR-2310
Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address first, or port forwarding won't work. Make sure that LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router are the same number.
