PLEASE help me (1 connection bar)
 
1. windows xp pro 2002 s2p
2. windows (the only one I could find)
3. 768mb
4. 9457mb
5. broadband?
6. linksys cablegateway # befcmuh4
7. home
8. limewire 4.14.8 java 1.6.0_02
9. roadrunner?
10. test worked
11. other computer connected by cable to modem/router. other computer
rarely used
12. have used limewire many times in past w/ no problem. now can't get
more than 1 connection bar
13.brick wall is showing
14. I have no idea & all posts I've tried to read to find out have been
greek to me
15. Norton AntiVirus - can't find anything about a firewall included -
have limited coverage - no option for "exceptions"
16. U.S.A.
I swear I've spent HOURS trying to fix this on my own, trying to understand all the posts to try all the solutions. I admit I'm not the most computer literate person. So, all solutions have to be totally step by step. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME! This is me today :bangh:

Make sure that your XP firewall's still allowing LW.

Some people have had connection problems with Java 1.6.0_02.Try this version instead. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version(s) before installing this one.
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that doesn't help, If that doesn't help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 2 here & also point 3 if you've used newer versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

I can't find any info about whether there's any sort of firewall in that gateway:o Were you using that device before, when LW was connecting??
