please help!!!! (connected but see brick wall)
 

ok so i am new to limewire and am getting full connection BUT, there is still a brick wall in front of the globe. I have read through past threads and i have done everything i can to disable firewalls. I have XP and Norton that i know of both wich i have configured.............

Can someone help please???????:(

Don't run the XP firewall & Norton firewall together. Disable the XP one & reconfigure Norton to allow LW (remove all the LW rules & start again from scratch);)

If that doesn't help, could we please have some more details??:p

Your Netcomm's probably got an internal firewall. What model is it (there's NB1300plus4, NB5plus4, NB6Plus4W)??

Have a look at the router list here. Find your model, choose LW from the list of programs & you'll find instructions for port forwarding...that fixed mine:D

Make sure to set up a static IP address first, else port forwarding won't work. You'll find links for that within those p/f instructions.
LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded should be the same number;)

Did you disable the XP firewall & reconfigure Norton?

its an NB1300plus4. I have done the above and logged into my account and it says that i dont have a static ip address do i want to buy one. do i have to do this for LW to work??? it also has a list of ports that my nettcomm modem will block and the port i was using 6346 is not mentioned. does this help at all??? does this even make sense?
i have definately config norton firewall to limewire and have even disabled norton for a while to see if this changes anything but still nothing????

My old modem was an NB1300 so there's definitely a firewall there.

You don't have to buy a static IP address...it's not something you have to get from Westnet. You can just set one up yourself for your computer. These are the static IP instructions.

Have a look through those & you'll see what you have to do. Print them out if you think it'll help (I did:D).

ok, i have gone through step by step and saved then rebooted my computer and that wall is still there... any other ideas????:confused::confused:

Did you have any trouble with the static IP setup? Are your ports the same number on the tools > options > advanced > firewall config page?

Did you forward a port for both TCP & UDP (within the router pages)?

no hassles, rechecked it was all configed correctly and still that wall...:confused: afer i saved and rebooted from nettcomm now when i try to enter the default ip in internet browser it doesnt come up, will this have anything to do with it now???

You should be able to log into the modem after setting up port forwarding.

Try turning off the modem, leave it off for a while (15 mins or so) then turn it back on. Then see whether you can log into it.
