No Idea.(connecting from school) hi everyone i have been reading some other the other post on here and i still can not get my limewire to do anything. iit says that i have one bar put i can never get it to get a full connection. i know i can a kid down my hall has his working fine but he didnt have to do anything to get it to work. it worked fine but i brought my computer up to college and now i can not get anything on my laptop or on my computer. i have tried to disable firewalls and i dont what else there is i can do. what ever needs to be done i will do i am going crazy. my computer is a dell xps900. i dont know if that helps at all but i can give more info if needed. thank you to anyone who helps out. |
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows XP 2. What firewalls you have? McAfee 3. How much ram? Don’t know 4. Hard Disk space available? Don’t know 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ethernet 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Don’t know 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? school 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.14.8 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? I believe through the school 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Will not display 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. I would assume the others on campus 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Experienced 13. Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall McAfee I don’t know if it is anything or not but the school made us download a Clean Access Agent 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA |
