michwayne September 23rd, 2007 01:57 PM

it will find more.

wondering why September 23rd, 2007 01:58 PM

Because you had limewire going the other day, I would think it's your ISP that is causing your connection problems...

Max has 30GB FUP and heavy downloading discouraged during peak. See below

ISP?? How do i fix that??

adasha lyrai September 24th, 2007 12:18 PM

do you suggest that i shud uninstall LW and remove all trace of it then reinstall it. Will that render the tracks on my itunes from LW useless????

adasha lyrai September 24th, 2007 12:19 PM

my internets working fine.

wondering why September 24th, 2007 01:05 PM

Let's have a look at your modem/router...It's the little black box that connects you to the internet, if you turn it upside down you should see the brand name and model number for it...

If you uninstall Limewire it will not effect your library...

adasha lyrai September 25th, 2007 11:15 AM

are you sure coz once i deleted a track off my limewire library and it affected the same track on my itunes library

adasha lyrai September 25th, 2007 11:46 AM

the make is inventel, model DV4210-WU

Lord of the Rings September 25th, 2007 11:54 AM

1. When updating Norton or LW, you often need to reset Norton. See Reconfiguring Norton Firewall. Likewise some Windows updates have been known to reset XP's firewall back to default. Make sure XP firewall is disabled. For a start, Norton & XP firewall DO clash & cause many problems including less security .. not more.

2. Try to find out what brand & model your modem/router is. Almost all high speed wireless devices have internal NAT firewalls. Question is whether it has UPnP & if it does, whether it functions correctly.

3. Orange is your ISP. In UK many ISP's have an anti p2p attitude. Also there's a number of major ISP's who have bought up smaller isp's & apply their own anti p2p approach. (So Orange's parent company may be one of the major ISP's, not an independent company itself. So the company may have recently introduced new anti p2p approaches.)

4. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

5. You didn't say which Java version you have. If you upgraded to Java 1.6 & you have had problems since, remove all java versions & reinstall Java 1.5_11 .. see point #1 in link above. The java may be affecting LW's ability to communicate UPnP with your modem/router.

6. Unless you have your program folder or preferences folder as your download location, then uninstalling LW will not affect your downloaded files or iTunes. What you may have noticed is the file was missing from the LW playlist in iTunes. But not the main iTunes Library. :) I hope you still have your pro installer. Otherwise uninstalling it will mean you will need to get the new basic or pro ... and for pro you'd need to repurchase it after such a time.

adasha lyrai September 25th, 2007 11:58 AM

product name Livebox-EE70

adasha lyrai September 25th, 2007 12:15 PM

thanks ill try those things
so do u recommend uninstalling limewire and completely wiping any trace of it off my comp?
btw when i deleted that track, it showed up in my main library, but when i clicked on it it said....the song ..... could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?

Lord of the Rings September 25th, 2007 12:22 PM

Uninstall LW as a last resort. Try the other things first. Do not use the add/remove control panel to uninstall LW. Go to Start menu -> Programs -> LW -> Uninstall.
If you don't uninstall it correctly you will have major problems.

As for the song you lost .. I am not sure. iTunes has been a bit buggy in recent versions. Try searching your computer for it. It might still be there somewhere. If yes, re-add it to iTunes using these techniques: How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes)

adasha lyrai September 25th, 2007 12:43 PM

what should i do first. Please can u give me a step by step instructions. Im really sorry but im not very computery. thankyou sooo much

adasha lyrai September 25th, 2007 12:44 PM

ive tried the preferences folder thing several times.....without success.

Please Help

Every time I try to download from Limewire I get an error message stating "Limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search might not contain many results until you are connected to the network"...I have tried turning off my Firewall, and nothing helps...It never connects no matter how long I have the program running. Can someone please help me to resolve this issue?

Thanks:xeri_ok1ani:

That's really not good. You are not reaching the gnutella network at all. Something is blocking you. The question is what. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools > Options > Advanced > Firewalls & change to port forward & change both ports to one between 49152 - 65535. A good one to try is 64049. Press Apply. Go to File menu & choose disconnect. Wait a minute. Then choose Connect.

Other options I can think of at this point is ... is there another user account on your computer? If not create one with admin permissions. Then reset LW up for it. Only need a shortcut to the new account from the program (do it from old account), no need to re-install. Disable all firewalls temporarily in the new account. BOTH norton & XP firewall. Then try to connect.

BTW did you remove all your java & install java 1.5_11 ?

You could try Phex to see if you have the same problems. It is another gnutella program.

adasha lyrai October 3rd, 2007 01:08 PM

hellooooooooo please someone reply!

adasha lyrai October 3rd, 2007 01:18 PM

um....can you please send me a link so i can do the java thingy?????
thanx
what if that doesnt work????
and also...what may have caused all these problems because it was so sudden and i hadnt done anything apart from download as normal!

wondering why October 3rd, 2007 01:24 PM

Right here are the last resorts you can try...Dont question them just do it...
You will not lose your files either...

Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...To find the offline installer, use the link below > cancel the installer window when it pop's up and then select the offline installer link...
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...This will reset your configurations back to default and get rid of any corruption that may of happened...;)

Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should
LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

If that doesn't work, it's your ISP, as Orange are well known for blocking p2p applications...

adasha lyrai October 4th, 2007 12:44 PM

should i download JDK or JRE????

wondering why October 4th, 2007 12:54 PM

The JRE....
