Default Connection Problem

Hello! I have been using Limewire before but all of a sudden I cannot connect anymore. I tried reading the thread and yesterday I added gnutella port on the firewall exception - it worked for a few minutes after than it stopped working again. Help!!!

2. What firewalls you have? WINDOWS FIREWALL
3. How much ram? 1.0 GIG OF RAM
4. Hard Disk space available? 40 GIG
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) DSL
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? SIEMENS SPEEDSTREAM 411
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? HOME
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LIMEWIRE 4.14.10
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? AT&T
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? IT SHOWS YOUR TEST WORKED
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. NOT THAT I KNOW OF.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I USED IT BEFORE... NOT AN EXPERIENCED USER THOUGH.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? NO

Try these fixes....
Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...This will reset your configurations back to default and get rid of any corruption that may of happened...

Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

I had the same problem. I just contacted my ISP TimeWarner and was told that they have blocked connection to lw. I live in Riverside CA. Are there other providers that allow access? So that explains why I was connected with Adelphia and lw worked but timewarner has bought the company. I need to change companies... Any advice?

Check out the ISP's for your area...
Ring them and ask all sorts of questions...
1. Do they shape, throttle, block p2p usage..
2. Do they have a Usage limit...
3. Request a copy of there Fair Use Policy...
4. Do they have a download/upload peak time period...

Here is a thread of ISP's that have been reported to do the above...
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-limewire.html

Also when you think you have found an ISP that looks reliable, enter there name into the search function here and see what reports come up, or just ask one of us and we will try and check it out for you...
