New School Filter Blocking Limewire Ok, so about 6 months ago my school got a Filter that now blocks limewire. Limewire will still come up on the computers, but searching goes nowhere. Most of the Computers are Windows 2000 and the filter is CIPAfilter if it helps to know that. Is there anyway to bypass the filter? I tried Limewire help and it seems like it's a router problem, but I'm afraid that I don't know what that means. Any help would be appreciated. |
Different types of filters can be used. One is only admissable programs can operate. One is bandwidth throttler for certain programs. One is firewalls that block programs not on the allowed list. Another is blocking of certain ranges of ports. Try using a different port setting such as between 49152 - 65535; a good one to try is 64049. For more on how to change these settings see Manual port forward instructions & sample image. Initially just try changing the listening port. Then change the connection port & set to port forward setting. However from what I just found out about the CIPAfilter it looks rather potent. |
