connection problem......for WW yes its me again ww asked me to write a new thread explaining all here it is first, i wasnt connecting at all i got the "limewire cannot connect" type message so, i tried the preference file delete thing which worked for a day but then the next time i used limewire, it only went on one green bar. I have changed my java, I have completely wiped limewire off my computer and reinstalled it, i have done the preference file thing looooods of times. With no success. here are my details 1. OS version? windows xp 2. What firewalls you have?Norton 3. How much ram?not sure 4. Hard Disk space available?not sure 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)wireless 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?not sure 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.4.9.23 pro 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?orange 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?it says my test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.yeah im sharing but dont no the details 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? New problem with experienced user 13. Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). Thanks for the info...;) OK...you say you have 4.9.23 Pro, could you save that installer to My Documents... Go to Start > All Programs > Limewire and right click on it and select Send To > My Documents... Then go to my documents and right click on it and select Rename... Rename it limewire pro installer 4.9.23... OK now that 4.9.23 is safe and sound and saved, I want you to Click on the badge in my sig and download the latest limewire basic, set it up and tell me what happens with your connection...;) |
help..new at this...downloaded limewire just fine...but cannot connect to anything...I have firewall with brick...I cannot figure out how to get rid of this if this what i even need to do...alsoim thinking maybe the port...I really don't know...can anyone help me?? sheila *email address removed* ________________________________________ Edited to comply with the House Rules.
