Can't Connect anymore

4. Hard Disk space available? 80GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) dsl - DHCP
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Motorola E10161 & Linksys WRT54G
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Limewire 4.14.10 Pro Java 1.6.0_02
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Home Telco
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? is says your test worked.

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. This is a new problem. I recently had my internet upgrade from to dhcp dsl and since then it does not work just less I change it to static, but I want to stay on dhcp.

1. Disable your XP firewall. (Norton & XP firewalls WILL clash when used together & give unreliable results & less security, not more.)
2. Configure your Norton Firewall to allow LW full access; Configuring Norton Internet Security
3. Linksys WRT54G is a 'lemon' version Linksys released. At least their firmware has major problems & they never bothered to fix it. It is thus unreliable when using with heavy net programs & will drop connections when used in UPnP mode. It is more reliable when port forwarded. There is a 3rd party fix to the firmware but I don't recommend it to anybody who is not sure what they are doing, else you could render the device unusable. To learn more about that, see WRT54 listing under the UPnP section here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Try this - it worked for me

[1] Uninstall the old version before installing the new -- delete the old LW folders from the Programs directory before installing the new version
[2] Ensure that you have java script J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 (Jre ver 5) if not download from here:-

Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

· Uninstall Limewire by using LW uninstall program not the add/remove control panel
Start -> All Programs -> Limewire -> Uninstall

· delete old LW folder from programs directory:-
c:\programs\Limewire <--- (delete this folder)

Hope this helps -- please let us know
