Default limewire enabling (can't connect)

I can not get my limewire to connect. It says it detected a firewall, but Ive done about everything I can think of. I have a wireless router made by Netgear, ISP is Mediacom. I did that test that it says to do and it says that it passed. All it says is that Limewire is enabling. I have the newest free version of Limewire. I did all of that plug and play nonsense, but that doesnt work, and I looked for the exception and it says that its allowed. My security is not on and it still says windows has detected a firewall. No clue whats going on. Can anyone help? thanks!

You both need to click on the blue 'system details' link in WW's post & answer as many of those questions as you can

Unhappy Connection Problems oh no!

Below are my system details. Can anybody help me? I have LW withdrawal!

1. Windows XP 2002
2. Windows Firewall
3. 160 GHZ Intel Pentium
4. 496 MB of RAM.
5. Broadband
6. It’s a Speedtouch Wireless Router
7. I am trying to connect from an apartment.
8. LimeWire (LW) = 4.14.10 & Java = 1.6.0. 02

13. There is a small firewall over the world icon.
14. I think it is UPnP enabled?

Hi antgal23,

Make sure that the XP firewall's allowing LW.
User Cant Connect - LimeWire

Next, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

Some people have had connection problems with the Java version that you have. You can either try updating to the latest version here (I have this one & LW's working fine): Java SE Downloads
or try this older version, which has worked well for lots of people: Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11
Whichever Java version you use, download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before installing another one.

What's the model of your Speedtouch (it may have it's own firewall)?
