Connection

Sorry it took so long, it was the weekend. I still having the same problems but I took my computer 2 my friend house and hook his internet connection 2 my comp and my limewire worked. So I was wondering if it could be my isp provider that got my limewire not connecting?

I can't find any info to suggest that your ISP is blocking p2p. Their Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) does mention that copyright infringement is in violation of the AUP but then so do most ISP's terms & conditions!
Home Telephone Company Internet Acceptable Use and Privacy Policies

In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to something in the range of 49152 - 65535. Try a few different ports in that range & see whether you can connect.

Are you able to use any other p2p apps? You could try Phex, BearShare or FrostWire and see whether any of those will connect.

I can't find any info about your modem, apart from that it's a Motorola! Do you have the user guide there? Can you have a look to see whether there's any internal firewall info? Do you know whether the modem supports UPnP?

User Cant Connect - LimeWire

Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

Some people have had connection problems with the Java version that you have. You can either try updating to the latest version here (I have this one & LW's working fine): Java SE Downloads
or try this older version, which has worked well for lots of people: Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11
Whichever Java version you use, download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before installing another one.

malzex,
Make sure that the Windows firewall's off & that McAfee's allowing LW. Try removing the LW rules within McAfee's configuration & then start from scratch & add new rules for LW. The link below might help.
Port Forwarding for the McAfee Security Center

Then delete the preferences folder & try different Java versions, as I told slvrgalant.

Where does the folder go when downloading?

I tried 2 change ports and still no luck. I was able 2 use Blubster and Bearshare and it connect and donwload. The model number on my Motorola modem is E1016-a. I'm at my wits end Birdy, help me!!

And when I change the ports, do I have 2 go back in McAfee Firewall and change the port and that so it can reflect the limewire port?

Yes, allow the new port through McAfee.
