LIMEWIRE Connexion Suggestion Though I don't know for how long, this just worked for me: You should be showing "LIMEWIRE" in the Windows Firewall Exceptions/Add Programs. You should also show "GNUTELLA.COM" as one of the programs in Windows Firewall Exceptions. If not, add it: Gnutella.com This might get you connected. |
hi i can't get my limewire to run to get songs so don't feel bad |

This worked for Kalinai. Quote:
Make sure you aren't using multiple Firewalls as they will conflict with each other and give you LESS protection. |
RE: LIMEWIRE connexion suggestion Sorry, but showing "gnutella.com" in "Windows Firewall Exceptions/Add Programs" only worked once for me. When I restarted my computer, Limewire would no longer connect to gnutella. So, that was a short-lived fix. |
Connection Problem, HAH! Personally, I think the whole thing is a big scam. It doesn't make sense to me how one day I can connect with no problems but most days I can't connect at all when I haven't made any changes to my computer system. I think the program is set up to control your download time even though it is suppose to be unlimited. Especially since so many people are having the same problem. |
I understand your frustration, but I don't think Limewire is a scam. It has worked flawlessly for me, for over a year and a half. There are several reasons that people have problems. Your ISP can have a huge impact on P2P useage. The problem with this is that they won't tell you directly and they might not tell you at all. Other reasons are Firewall issues, modem/routers that might also have a NAT firewall that has to be configured and several more things I'm sure, but If there is anything that we can help you with, please let us know. Also you say, "so many people". What you see here in this forum is a minute (Adjective) sum compared to the millions that are using Limewire. :D |
No Changes Well I wish you all the best. I have been a member of LW for over three years and up until about a year ago I never had any problems. I have not made any changes to my system and yet for the past year I can only connect about one in twenty times I try. I am no computer geek but I do know a thing or two about computers and I know enough to know that none of the things you suggested have changed on my computer from the time I was able to connect to the time I started having the connection problems. Also, after I posted my comment, my LW connection suddenly went from "starting to connect" to "turbo-charged connection" and I made no changes to anything and I have tried to connect three other times today with no success. The last time I tried to connect it remained at "starting to connect" for about 45 minutes and then miraculously it became turbo charged. Maybe it's not a scam, I'm just frustrated and don't get it! |
Great news on the Connection. Still sounds like an ISP problem. Never had any problems with them?? Mind telling us who you use?? Just a thought. |
Isp My ISP is Verizon. Once again I am unable to connect (no real surprise there). This is why I say it doesn't make sense. How can you connect one day and then all of a sudden you can't connect when no changes have been made.:bangh: |

Vista solution on hp comp wired, an hp laptop(wireless), worked for both ok I had the same problem an everything seemed to not work, until I deleted the newest version of java 6, I searched my comp for all remaining java files an deleted them, I then installed older java thru the link posted 5.0 11,deleted limewire completely thru uninstall an search, then go to limewire an download, limewire basic, when basic installs you will see it install java files n it take a few min to complete, then once it is finished, completely close limewire, making sure icon is not runnin by clock, due to lime default settings, jus cuz ya click x, it doesnt shutdown completley unless u set it under LW settings, an if not sure run task manager, cntrl alt del, make sure it not runnin in the processes tab, right click on LW icon go to properties then compatibility, make sure the box is clicked,,, run this program in compatibility mode for, an select windows xp, service pack 2..select apply then ok, then run lime, it connects fine,,,if u want lime pro then unistall basic thru add/remove dont search for remainin files an install pro, but note thru my trial an error if u install pro first when it installin i noticed it doesnt install java jar files, an will not connect, only by runnin lime basic first did it install the java jar.... not sure y that is but, i reinstalled my pro an works like champ everytime even on comp restarts it turbo connected hope this helps someone peace...i didnt edit the firewall pref in LW I left in default use pnp, also note my isp is mediacom as well an use norton 2008 |
