i cant connect either..
my details:
1.windows xp
2. ethernet lan
3. living in student accommodation
4. limewire 4.14.10 java 1.5.0_08
5. the test works
6. i am experienced LW user. no connections problems till recently
7. using spybot search&destroy and microsoft registry smart
8. i have the brick wall at the LW interface
9. living in the uk

is there any chance that downloading veoh beta recently has anything to do with that?!
i checked spybot and LW is not listed as a threat

Probably your uni is blocking file sharing programs. Try changing ports. In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or something in the range of 49152 - 65535) > apply > ok.
