Firewall is still there

I have windows xp and limewire is an exception in my windows security exceptions and yet the brickwall is still there. I have been trying to access limewire since last Friday. Limewire did download, however, the brick wall is still in front of the globe. What can I do so that I can search for songs etc...:aweof:

Still nothing (no connection)

I've tried all the examples that have been posted and still nothing. I still have the brick firewall in front of the globe. It's not connecting to the internet. I don't know what else to do! :tease:Please help

I also am experiencing this same problem. Everything was working perfectly about a week ago. I've done everything that you two have already done. If anyone knows how to fix this please advise. Thank you.

The firewall problem disappeared overnight. I hope this has occurred for you as well.

Same here... I"m using Vista an upgraded to Pro two days ago and have yet to connect.
The free version worked just fine a week ago. Made the exceptions and opened the port.
Still "trying to connect" I guess the help is still home sleeping the turkey off...
Also, I was thinking that we might be waiting a while for an answer because the folks that know how to fix the problems don't need to come to this forum, so we're all just kinda sitting here shrugging at each other...

Same Problem

I had the free version before and it worked fine. Upgraded and wouldn't start. Bought PRO and it installed and starts but will not connect. Windows firewall is off, my firewall is off. And I have the wall and "starting to connect". Vista home basic. What's up???

Yours just starting working ok? This sucks!

:yikes:

missjenni November 23rd, 2007 01:26 PM

yeah I have even deleted and reloaded the free version and now it still won't do anything. I downloaded another shareware program and it goes right thru the firewall but I wanna use my limewire.. So maybe we should send up some e-smoke signals for help or something.

missjenni November 23rd, 2007 01:29 PM

okay wierd as it may sound mine just popped up the box that shows when you first open limewire that shows loading interface and all that and then jumped to turbo charged connection but the firewall is still there... Hope you guys have the same luck!

EscapeArtist November 23rd, 2007 01:33 PM

I just got Limewire, made sure it was on my exceptions list for Windows firewall, and made sure it isn't affected by my other security program, but it still won't connect and has the firewall symbol.. Please help.

notescope November 23rd, 2007 01:34 PM

Ya buddy!

I deleted the program in my firewall (zonealarm) and this time when i started it, it requested server access which i allowed. At least it appears to be trying. But still is stuck on starting connection.

honeypot November 23rd, 2007 01:35 PM

Seems we all have this problem

Help:tease:It's driving me crazy-It worked fine until I had to recover my computer and reinstall it from scratch-anyone have answers?

Seamus November 23rd, 2007 01:54 PM

Update: Worked fine this morning; now it's not working because it is detecting a fire wall. For this reason alone, and I could be wrong, I think the problem is with LimeWire and not our computers.

honeypot November 23rd, 2007 02:00 PM

I agree!

jamielee17 November 23rd, 2007 02:23 PM

Me too :(

I am having the exact same problem our Limewire appears to have downloaded properly (the free version) and we have already deleted it and redownloaded, made sure the exception is added to our Firewall and the Listening Port added to it as well but Limewire won't show any search results! So frustrating! Our internet provider has insisted there is no proxy or anything for our internet connection so now I am at a loss....

jamielee17 November 23rd, 2007 02:24 PM

ok random....

it just started working the second I sent the last post... lets hope it does for you all too and stays that way! fingers crossed:yahoo::yahoo:

honeypot November 23rd, 2007 02:34 PM

how dd u get it to work?

jamielee17 November 23rd, 2007 03:52 PM

I'm sorry but I really am not sure, looks like you have all tried everything I tried it just randomly started working. but it comes and goes. when you view the connections that is the problem - sometimes the connections aren't working - the status should say outgoing and the vendor should say limewire but I don't know how to make this happen it seems random. there is an option on the connections part to add a port but I dont know how this works?
