1. Xp Home edition
2. i have no firewalls aside from windows defender
3. 512 MB SDRAM
4. im not usre but its anew comp so much hard disk room availible
5. Cable highspeed internet
6. Net gear comcast Gateway CG814WG v2
7. Trying to connect from home
8. lIMEWIRE 4.14.8 jAVA 1.6.0_02
9. Comcast
10. Test worked
11. No sharing
12. New problem
13. brick wall
15. windows defender and yahoo provided software [not comcast]

I didn't think Windows Defender included a firewall (thought it was antispyware). You can use a software firewall, just make sure that it's allowing LW.

Try port forwarding for your Netgear, the instructions are here.

Don't forget to set up a static IP address first. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router setup should all be the same number
