is this only if you have one connection bar

It Worked

I tired everything else that i can think off. adding ports and everything else.

it was like it was capped at fair connection. Just slow enough that i wouldn't search anything.

I followed these steps and restarted the comp and then line wire.

went from fair connection to Turbo-charged connection.

Thanks this solved my problem.

Irratic connection

Most of the time, when I open the Limewire application, connection is no problem. However, occassionally, it will not connect to the Gnutella network and I cannot search or download. I have not correlated this failure to any other factors nor have I figured out how to force a connection when this happens. Sometimes rebooting the computer solves the problem, but not always. Any suggestions?

Go through the tips in the thread below, just go slowly. If you're sure that you've done things correctly, post with your system details.

it said to delete the file not the whole folder.

Well I replaced the gnutella file as advised, and all works fine now (finally)
Anyone have any ideas why this wouldn't have been included in an update?

The message is

I'm at work right now so can't fix the problem. The message I'm getting at home when I try to do a search (downloaded Limewire yesterday) is "Limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network" - it doesn't get any results.

I tried the fix suggested but it didn't work - however, I may not have fully deleted limewire.

Am I looking at the right forum topic? Just wanted to make sure before I attempt the fix again. I'm a Vista user.

Many thanks

XP users using the newer versions of LW (more recent than 4.9.34) should look for their preferences folder in C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\LimeWire. XP users who are still using much older versions of LW (older than 4.9.34) should look for their preferences folder in C:\Documents and Settings\your username\.limewire

Vista users should find their preferences folder here: C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire
And more info about how to find the folder here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html

Both XP & Vista users will need to show hidden files & folders in order to be able to find a preferences folder in the new location (for LW versions newer than 4.9.34). XP users can do this by going to Control Panel > Folder Options > click on the View tab > check the radio button to show hidden files & folders > apply > ok. Vista users, see the Vista pref folder link above.

Mexx, see whether looking in that other location helps!

babyguli, if you're still confused have a look at this thread below (click on the blue link) & see whether that helps.
