Very slow connection (1 connection bar)

I have just installed Limewire on my pc and the connection is very slow. I only got one bar which states that I have connected to limewire? any idea why this things happen?

one bar meaning "connectING" to limewire...
this is an obvious thing but not so easy to fix if u are using Norton...McAfee....or another strong defender...
ur firewall is blocking of limewire's connection, just go into ur firewall prtection and "Allow" limewire to connect to the internet

- if ur in doubt of it being the firewall, look on the right side of the connection bar, there will be a firewall over the world....that means ur firewall is stopping limewire!

Hello! Along those same lines: for the past two days I also have had only one bar, most of the time...then for a few hours it was fully connected. I do not have a firewall blocking Limewire and didn't make any changes to my computer to cause the change in the connection. I now have one bar, and I am downloading a movie, so far in 24 hours I've gotten 51% downloaded, which is definitely not my typical speed
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, with xp home edition, my antivirus software is the free version of AVG. Any ideas why this is happening?

Oh yeah, I have cable as my internet connection.

It could be your ISP, sometimes they can shape your connection at peak time...
Who is your ISP ??

Comcast. You're right...just checked and all my bars are full again.
Thanks for the reply!
