Limewire Enabling? It won't connect & I don't know why ?

I've downloaded Limewire over & over & it won't connect. I've left it on all day & it still says Limewire Enabling.
I've had Limewire in the past & it was straight forward to use.
I have Windows Vista & my firewall is allowing Limewire through it so can you help me? If you can your a star, I don't know what to do.:giggle:

I'm wondering if it is a prob with Limewire because I don't use it that often but have had it set up on my computer for a year, same modem, firewall etc and over the last couple of days all of a sudden I can't connect. It is driving me crazy!!

To Lord of the Rings

I have had the same problem. I've tried on numerous occasions to delete it from the appa file/roaming and continue to have the problems connecting. Perhaps for the moment Limewire is not compatible with Vista. Does this sound plausible? I've listed on other threads the answers to the link you've provided however no one seems to have the answers and it also appears that I am not the only one having connection problems with LimewirePro. I did have a pop up on my computer indicating that I am having compability problems with it. Maybe limewire needs to upgrade or do an evaluation of their system in order to correct this problem with the many that are having the same issue. I would truly appreciate any help you can offer or if you can find out what the compability issues are that most everyone is having. Whether they are newly installing it in their new computers like myself or upgrading, everyone seems to be saying the same thing.

Thanks for your reply, I don't have a solution yet but if I find one i'll let you know, maybe I need to find a new site to get music from, do you know of any?

Serrita December 12th, 2007 05:15 AM

I still don't know why this is happening, but if I find a solution I will let you know. Is there any other sites you know of that I can use in the meantime to download music?

I am new to the Limewire forum!!!!Not to Limewire!!!!

I started with downgrading my java to meet my version of limewire...that did not work......I have checked and rechecked my firewall it shows Panda Soft is allowing inbound and outbound to limewire......Yet I still have brick wall in front of blue globe......"I am at a loss"....if anyone can help it would be great! (She was working a few days ago)

Running:
Windows XP media sp2
Panda soft 2008
984 MHZ w/ 960MB RAM
Cable connection with MotorolaSB5101 Surfboard Modem
Linksys Wireless-G router 4-port Secured
173GB of free space on hard drive
Connecting from apt complex in the USA
(I am sorry but do not understand some of lingo in the p2p and UPnp sections
of the "Check here first!" section) I did try!
I ran the test in the connection problems section and it says it worked!

Any help is good help!!!!!!
Please let me know if you need more info!
Thanks mldy

Make sure XP firewall is disabled!
Make sure UPnP is enabled on your Linksys device. Log into it & check your UPnP option. It will have an internal firewall. You didn't specify exactly which model.
There is a possibility your apt complex has a firewall in there somewhere. Let's hope not.

Thanks kdev, actually that fix is already used by our forum long before you posted yours. But we appreciate assistance to forum members. :) That same fix applies to non-Vista users also but it won't fix all people's problems. ;)
