Closes when loading digital audio protocols
 

I have Limewire 4.14.12, and when im loading limwire it gets loaded fine but when it says "Loading digital audio protocols" or something to that extent Limewire instantly freezes and shuts down..


any suggestions??

Try updating your Java here Java SE Downloads.
Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions installed on your computer (Add/Remove programs) before you install the new version.

still not fixed :-( tried the sticky and did the 8 steps to try and fix it, none fixed it.

Sorry, I'm not sure which sticky you're talking about...was one of the steps deleting LW's preferences folder? Can you explain what fixes you've already tried...so that we don't go suggesting the same things again:p

Have you tried running LW in compatibility mode for an older OS (Win NT or 2000 if you're using XP, Win XP if you're using Vista) by right clicking on LW's desktop icon > properties > compatibility?

Has LW ever worked for you before (if so tell us what version(s) worked)? Has 4.14.12 ever worked for you before?

the steps w/the preference folder i have tried

running limewire as a diff. OS i have tried but that didn'twork either

limewire has worked before but it quit working on me about a year ago..and has never worked sense..

4.10 worked for me but none after that.

Can you remember if you installed any new programs around the time that LW stopped working?

You could try the Java fix in this thread (from another forum), even though the OP's problem with LW shutting down isn't quite the same as yours.
LW 14.5.1 (and 14.4.12) keeps shutting down

Or you could try downloading the latest LW Beta version if you like & see whether that's any better. You can download the Beta from the usual download page (click on the 'get basic' button & answer the question about copyright infringement...once you get to the download page for various platforms you'll see the option to download the Beta).

I'm not sure what's going wrong for you...one of the earlier LW versions had a bug which caused LW to freeze at loading digital audio access protocol but I think that was 4.14.7. If nothing works & you don't want to roll back to the LW version which worked for you, try posting at the other forum that I linked to earlier. Maybe a dev can help you over there.

Imgoing to try and disable Allchars then, and the prolem i had w/ 4.10v is that i couldn't connect to it..

every limewire has had some kind of problem for me lol

Java update didn't work..

Downloaded Frostwire (same as limewire) that still closes w/my problem too..

so im clueless..

See if the LW Beta version works any better. You can download the Beta from the usual download page...to the right of the list of versions for different platforms you'll see the option to download the Beta version.

Beta was the first thing i tried and didn't work.. Java didn't fix it unfortunately i deleted the java 6 i had and thejava 5 i had then installed java 5 over again. but nothing.
