Default 1 bar now with XP Pro

1.OS= XP Pro
2.Firewall=Trend PC-Cillin, no windows
3.Ram=1gb
4.HD=120
5.Connection= broadband
6.Router=Lynksis mod BEFSR4
7.Where=house
8.Version LW 4.14.10 pro Java 5.0 11 JRE offline
9.ISP= Surewest (fiber optic)
10.Simple test= it works
11.Sharing= yes w/2 other computers and they get turbo connections...no other p2p...just LW
12.1st try= No, I've had LW for years w/ no problem
13.Brick wall=yes, but also on the ones that work
14.Router=not the connection, identical setup wi working ones
15.Trend PCCillin
16.Country= California USA

I decided to upgrade one of my computers with a bigger hard drive and to install XP Pro SP2 instead of XP home. Now I can't get more than 1 bar. I've tried the java 5.0 11 change, the uninstall, reinstall, the gnutella folder swap. Can't figure out what I'm missing. I've done most of the above tricks twice but I must be missing something. You guys are an awesome bunch and I know someone's got the answer. Please help me.
I got this computer all dolled up but I can't dance with it.

Default So many of us

Many of us are having the same issue. It seems that its will all versions of Limewire not just the Pro. Please let me know if you get any information that corrects this problem. I will do the same.

Thanks

sydney16,

When you replaced the gnutella.net file, did you make sure that LW was properly closed at the time? If not, do it again with LW completely closed.

You could also try changing ports...in LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. change LW's listening port to something in the range of 49152 - 65535 (say 65000) > apply > ok.

When you reinstalled XP with SP2, did you use any of the connections patches available? Just in case that's the issue, have a look at the thread here for a link to a patch.

And if nothing works, you could try port forwarding for your router. If you can find your router in the list here, you'll find detailed instructions for port forwarding.
PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall
Don't forget to set up a static IP address if that's part of the instructions.

pegleg123,

See whether any of the fixes here work.
If LW Will Not Connect

If not, post back with your system details.

Default problem connecting

I downloaded lime wire on 12-12-07. It worked that night. I went out of town and came back on Friday and it would not connect. It was stuck on one bar. Anyone who knows how to help me with this , I will be very grateful.
