Stuck on Starting Connection

I'm running Windows 2000 SP4 with the newest version of Java (which I downloaded today)

I reformatted my computer today and reinstalled my drivers, direct x 8.1, limewire, itunes, and xfire. Those are the only applications on my computer at this time. So on my laptop (running 4.14 on XP SP2) and my brothers computer (running 4.14 on 2000 SP4) it connects but on this one it seems to be stuck on "starting connection"

I get the first small bar and the circle is still green but I cannot search or download. Right now I would settle for 1 kbps a second (though I normally run at around 100+ per download).

My system:
Ram: 256
Pentium 4
ISP: Metrocast
Router: DIR-655

I have been checking every single topic before posting trying to find out a solution. I've tried re-downloading the java app, restarted my computer like 100 times and did the gnutella.net thing. Theres not /.limewire folder because I'm not running XP and I'm tired and frustrated. Any help would be appreciated but please don't tell me to go back to the stickied posts (I've read them all...)

i switched to frost wire and it works now, idk whats up with limewire >.>
