Sudden Connect Problems

OS version?Windows XP2. What firewalls you have?
How much ram? 1 Gig
Hard Disk space available? 250 Gig with 129 Gig free
Connection type? Broadband
Where are you trying to connect from Home, one PC What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LimewirePro version 4.12.6 and Java 1.6.0_03
Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Time Warner Aol/RoadRunner
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Test worked fine.
McAfee anti-virus and firewall is in place, with Limewire allowed.

OK here is sudden problem. Always connected fine till this week. Now all i get is 3 bars with a FAIR connection and no search capabilities. I have tried to email LW customer service and after 4 attempts, still have not heard back from them. I purchased the Pro edition in May of 2006. Is this their attempt for me to repurchase the software? Any help would be appreciated, thanks and Happy Holidays.

If you bought Pro in May, 2006, your Pro benefits are over a year out of date (back then buying Pro entitled you to 6 months worth of free updates & email support). So you're not entitled to Pro support...they won't answer your emails.

Try these fixes for the no search results thing.

1. In LW go tools > options > searching > basic & check whether the 'show license warning' box is ticked. If it does, untick it > Apply > ok...see if that makes any difference.

2. Problems with the search

3. Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will change all of your settings within LW's options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things to the way you like them.

Have you tried deleting the LW rules within Mcafee's config & then setting new ones? Have you made sure that the XP firewall is off?

What's the brand & model of your modem/router?? How is your modem/router set up...UPnP enabled, port forwarded or nothing??
