LimeWire works on iMac... not on MacBook? Hi, I just got a brand new MacBook and Limewire will not connect on it! It just stays on one bar in the bottom left corner. I have had an iMac for 3 years that connects to the internet the exact same way my new MacBook does and it has no problem connecting and using the LimeWire network. The only difference between the computers is that my MacBook is using Leopard (Mac OSX 10.5) and my iMac is using Tiger (Mac OSX 10.4)... Here's my system details... any help is greatly appreciated. 1. OS version? Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard 2. What firewalls you have? Whatever is default. 3. How much ram? 2GB 4. Hard Disk space available? 128GB 5. Connection type? Cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? MODEM: Motorola SURFboard Model SB5120 ROUTER: Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router Model: WRT54GS 7. Where are you trying to connect from? House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LimeWire 4.14.12, Java 1.5.0_13 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Comcast Cable 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your test worked! 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No.... I mean there are other computers on my network... but I'm not using any other p2p programs. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I've been using LimeWire for years. I have used it on my iMac for all three years of its life and I used it on my Windows laptop even before that. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes I do. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? I am port forwarding, yes. I'm not really sure what UPnP is though. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? I'm on a Mac and do not have security programs. 16. What country are you living in? United States |
