Gnutella Forums - LW not connecting!!

error: your machine does not appear to have an active connection or a firewall is blocking limewire from accessing the internet. limewire will automatically keep trying to connect you to the network unless you select "disconnect" from the file menu

my internet works because im on it right now, msn, internet explorer playing games online, all work but not any of my peer to peer (Limewire and utorrent) work

limewire installs fine no worries but in the bottom left corner it just stays at starting connection with the one green bar.

iv looked through the posts and haven’t found any problem like mine some are close so i have tried the fixes for that but doesn’t change anything.

i have tried:

* If LW Will Not Connect: replacing the gnutella.net file

* updating Java SE

* done the deleting of the 2 preference folders on restarted and everything. Still not working.

i am running windows XP
no additional firewall, just basic windows
512MB of RAM
22.5GB free space
Connection type: cable motorola surfboard (is what the router is called)
From my home address.
i have latest java.
i have the latest free (basic) version of Limewire

this motorola router has one Ethernet cable from the back of it which runs to my comp but its also a wireless router for my mum and bros laptop.

no i have had limewire for ages and working fine, suddenly stopped

yes i see a brick in front of a blue world icon that the bottom of LM interface

my brother (15yr old)just before limewire stopped working was told by one of his 30 yr old professional IT guy that he was able to change settings on the motorola surfboard wireless router to make his download faster he changed ports or something i dont know if he knows........? but he has changed it back to what it was. and still doesn’t work.

when I hover over the bars in the bottom left corner it says “you are currently connecting to the net work” don’t know if that changes anything?

what do you recommend i do? Please help someone!
